I feel blogging in the classroom will be very beneficial for your students. It gives them a chance to see what their peers say/or think, and makes them more accountable. You will be able to provide students with immediate feedback with the click of a mouse.
Thanks Jen! This was really helpful, especially for kids who enjoy technology. Blogs will allow students to really voice their opinions, connect with their classmates and think about the topic in more depth.
First of all, You asked us to post why we think blogging is is important in the classroom. Shouldn't you have said, "DO we think that blogging is important to use in the classroom?" You assume that we already believe it's important, well, I think that it's pretty cool. Just trying to give you a hard time. Good job!
This seems like such an awesome, quick addition to the classroom! I really look forward to finding some applicable posts for Algebra 1!
I do believe that technology has become a necessity rather than a privilege in this century. Having knowledge and feedback available to students at their fingertips can only be beneficial and worthwhile in and out of the classroom.
First, thanks! Very informative; my head is spinning with all the information. I appreciate the ideas for use in the classroom. I will start small....maybe a question to consider before class. Also, I like the idea of continuing class discussion after class. I'm sure we'll talk more, especially after I forget and start to panic!
Education is what you make of it, and providing students with something interesting, educational, and potentially more self-directed will hopefully get them thinking a little further about whatever it is that gets them going, and that is what will make them a lifelong learner, not just a memorizer of facts. You can't ignore the power of the internet. Plus it's super-easy. Like making a handout. But without the tree destruction. And with moving pictures, colors, and sounds. And without printing and copying.
I would like to create a Book Blog to try and encourage my students to read and share books that they feel other students might enjoy too. Thanks for the information.
Great job, Jenn! I am ashamed to admit that I don't use much technology in my classroom; however, I will "blog" with my students now. I think it would be truly beneficial in Advanced Foods. PS---LOVED THE VIDEO YOU SHOWED US!!!!! Drilled home the point that technology in the classroom is a necessity.
Class was well presented and enjoyable. Haven't figured out how to use it yet in math but I will take a look at TeacherTube to see if I can find anything.
