The death of Osama bin Laden has created a lot of controversy and conflict lately. Some see his death as a symbol of victory in the war on terror, while other do not, and see this as something that should not be celebrated.
Read the article and answer the following questions:
1. According to the article, what are some reasons why America should NOT be celebrating Osama bin Laden's death? What does it suggest seems odd about the attack?
2. What are your personal views? Should Osama bin Laden have been captured alive? Killed? Do you believe his death will change anything against the war on terror?

1. According to the article America shouldnt be celebrating his death because it doesnt change the war in the middle east as well as give people jobs and medicare in America. What seems odd is that only four people died along with bin laden.
ReplyDelete2. I persaonally think that it was a good thing but America should be alert for possible future attacks.Yet i believe it was also a distraction win to get Americas mind off the recession and Obamas "lack of effort in fixing things in America".Also we have known where bin laden was hiding for a while before so we should of acted then instead of ten years or so later after 9/11.I do agree that bin laden had to be killed and i think his death will open the eyes to many terrorist which could cause a war.
1. According to the article, Americans should not be celebrating the death of bin Laden because it solves no tactical problems in either the Afghanistan war or the war on terror. The article also suggests it seems odd that only four other people were killed in the assault. This could conclude that the group of bin Laden’s insiders was thinning and in the end he only had a few reliable body guards.
ReplyDelete2. My personal views support Obama’s plan to execute bin Laden. The US government and Special Forces created an effective plan to kill bin Laden and the plan was executed nicely. It was important that no Americans were killed during the operation, and none were. Bin Laden was also successfully killed. Therefore the mission was a success. I do not think his death will change anything against the war on terror. I do believe his people will retaliate for the assassination and continue to plan acts of terror. I am confident in the American government and national security, and I’m confident that the attacks will be stopped and prevented.
1. America should not be celebrating Osama bin Laden's death because of the fact that it did not make things any better for the war in Iraq. The attack seems odd because there was 4 people killed instead of one; the mission was to kill Osama bin Laden only.
ReplyDelete2. Even though I believe that everyone should have a chance to live their life to the fullest, if a person takes a life of another then they too should die as a consequence; eye for an eye. Osama bin Laden killed many innocent people and had been known for leading other terrorist attacks. It would of been better if we caught him alive to interrogate him about his actions, but eventually he would have to face the ultimate consequence of death. America needs their justice.
1. Osama bin Laden's death really does not seem to solve any problems in either the Afghan war or the war on terror. His death does not change the US or help with any American problems. According to the article, his death changes nothing. Although it could just show that he had few reliable bodyguards, it seems odd that only four other people besides bin Laden were murdered during the assault.
ReplyDelete2. As the article says, Osama's death gives Americans a sense of closure, of satisfaction, of victory. I'm not sure I agree that Osama should have been killed on the spot, however, I'm also not angered that he is dead. I think if he was captured alive, we could have somehow attempted to use him for information. I'm really unsure if his death will have a direct impact on the war on terror. The Taliban obviously still exists and the war on terror with continue, but bin Laden was an important figure in the Taliban. But I do feel his death brings comfort to many Americans.
1.After reading this article it suggests that America should not be celebrating Osamana Bin Laden's death. In the article it says that sure the most known man of a terrorist group was killed but theres still more of his kind out there, meaning the war in Afghanistan and terrorist war an not over. Which means there will remain attacks and could lead to retailiation. What it they say is odd is "Does it seem odd that only four people besides bin Laden died in the assault?" It suggests that he had few bodyguards along with him.
ReplyDelete2.In my opinion I do believe it should be celebrated along with the rest of the world. It was a big victory for Americans that finally we have killed him but this does not mean it is over. It is far from it. I think Osama Bin Laden should of been captured and sentenced to a trial but in the end dying from the death penalty. He personally didn't kill the people of 9/11 but he was the mastermind behind it all. It would of justified the attack on 9/11. From my personal experience my aunt used to live in NYC when 9/11 occured and she had work around that area. We were unable to get in contact with her for hours and our family went through hell. In my opinion I dont think the death will really change anything and if it does it will just anger the terrorist group. There could be a retailiation inwhich we will fear everyday. In the end the death did bring justification and comfort to Americans.
